Q. Why is the cashback amount different from the order total?

The cashback amount may differ from the order total because cashback is calculated based on the reward rules configured by the merchant.

Some common reasons include:

  • Cashback is calculated as a percentage of the order value.

  • Only specific products or collections are eligible for cashback.

  • Discounts were applied to the order before cashback was calculated.

  • Certain products are excluded from cashback rewards.

  • Cashback limits or maximum reward caps have been configured.

As a result, the cashback reward may be lower than the total order value and will reflect only the amount eligible under the configured cashback program.

This feature is available for Shopify's New Customer Accounts.
